New Olu of Warri crowned amid jubilation

There was jubilation in Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri People as Prince Utienyinoritse-Tsola Emiko was crowned as Ogiame Atuwatse III, 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom.

The new Olu of Warri was crowned shortly after he fulfilled all the traditional rites in line with the Itsekiri customs and traditions.

The Itsekiri people expressed joy, dancing and jubilating to celebrate the new Olu.

A boat regatta was also organized in his honour.

Throughout Saturday, shops and markets were shut for the event.

However, passengers groaned as they trekked long distances owing to the heavy traffic gridlock in the town.

Present at the event were the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, who was represented by Mr. Ovie Agas, former Secretary to the Delta State Government; the Ooni of Ife; Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Olowo of Iwo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, and King Jaja of Opobo.
