Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, the newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, has set a clear political objective: to deliver Kano State back to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Ata made his intentions known during his first visit to Kano after being sworn into the Federal Executive Council.
Speaking to journalists, he stated, “My appointment was mainly for political reason; APC has lost Kano State, and now it will take Kano State. The main problem is the Kano Central, and I am from there.”
He pledged to work closely with his local ward and spend significant time in Kano, despite his ministerial role, to achieve this goal.
“Even as a minister, I will continue to sit in this Ward,” he said. “We are going to work very hard to see that APC gains control of Kano State by 2027.”
Ata clarified that, while he would fulfil his duties within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, his primary focus remains the political mission in Kano.
“I will do my work but will be coming to Kano State every week to work towards gaining control of the state,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, Ata remarked that his role serves the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole, assuring Tinubu that APC would win Kano back in 2027.
“This is my assurance given to the President,” he declared.
