The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to students and the general public about a fraudulent online portal falsely claiming to offer student loan applications under President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
In a statement released Monday, June 30, in Abuja, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the circulating message as “false and misleading.”
“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” Oluwatuyi said.
She warned that the fake portal, hosted at https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/, is not affiliated with the Fund and should be avoided.
“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading,” she stated.

According to her, the only legitimate website for loan applications is https://nelf.gov.ng.

She reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to “transparency, safety, and fairness” throughout the loan application process.
She also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity to NELFUND via email at info@nelf.gov.ng, or through its verified social media handles:
