No fewer than 611 drug traffickers have been arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State.
This was revealed by Mr. Umar Adoro, the agency’s commander in the state while speaking with newsmen.
Adoro stated that 480 drug addicts had been treated, rehabilitated, and incorporated into society out of the 611 suspects.
“131 were charged in court and we secured the conviction of 69. 62 are still awaiting trial within the period under review.
“Within the period under review, the command also seized illicit drugs, which included cannabis 3,893.189kg, cocaine 1.309kg, heroin 0.097kg, psychotropics 3,949.63kg, methamphetamine 0.147kg, and Tramadol 1.851.369kg.
“The total drug seized was 3,898,991.552kg within the period under review,” Adoro said.
He asked the people to be aware of strange movements of commodities in their neighborhoods and to submit beneficial information to the agency for it to reduce the influx and use of hard narcotics.
The commander also urged parents to keep a watchful eye on their children’s activities.
