Three Youths Murdered in Plateau State Attack

In a tragic incident on Wednesday, three youths were brutally murdered by unknown attackers in Rakok village, located in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victims, who were going about their daily business in the community, were ambushed and killed by assailants in what the Berom Youths Moulders Association (BYM) has described as a heinous attack.

In a statement issued by Dalyop Mwantiri, the National President of the BYM, the association condemned the senseless killings, which they believe are part of a disturbing trend of violence in the region.

The association highlighted that the attack is part of a broader pattern of recurring violence, including ambushes, assaults on women, and the deliberate destruction of crops, particularly targeting the Berom community in Barkin-Ladi, Riyom, and parts of Jos South Local Government Areas.

“The recurrence of killings, ambushes, and the mass destruction of crops by Fulani militants and criminal gangs must be addressed through decisive military action to prevent the situation from worsening,” the statement read.

The BYM has called on the Nigerian security forces, particularly Operation Safe Haven, to take immediate action to curb these persistent aggressions. They warned that the ongoing violence threatens to turn Plateau State into a “theatre of bloodshed,” a situation they say must be avoided at all costs.

In addition to urging for a crackdown on the perpetrators, the association has called for a full investigation into the killings and the recent theft of motorcycles in the area.

They also demanded compensation for the destroyed crops and support for the victims, including medical assistance for the injured.

At the time this report was filed, neither the Plateau State Police nor the Joint Security Task Force Operation Safe Haven has issued a formal statement or response to the attack.

The BYM’s appeal for swift action from the authorities continues as the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic incident.

The situation in Plateau State remains tense, and local residents are hoping for a prompt resolution to the violence that has plagued their region.
