The National Assembly has received resolutions from 27 State Houses of Assembly on 35 bills that would modify the constitution.
As a result, the Senate has instructed the Clerk of the National Assembly to forward President Muhammadu Buhari’s 35 constitutional amendment bills that have thus far complied with section 9(2) of the constitution for his consideration.
Additionally, the upper chamber requested that the remaining nine state Houses of Assembly submit their resolutions on the proposed constitutional amendments in order to fulfill their legally mandated legislative duty.
Gombe, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kwara, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Zamfara states’ Houses of Assembly still have not sent their resolutions to the National Assembly.
