The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men in Obi Local Government Area over the alleged abduction and murder of a trader, Felicia Namkywa.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, both from Shember village in Agwatashi.
Nansel explained that police investigations revealed that the suspects lured Namkywa into a forest where they strangled her to death and stole ₦555,000 from her.
“The suspects confessed to luring the victim by asking her to come and purchase grains in a Fulani settlement. Unknown to her, they had a plan to kill her and take her money,” Nansel said.
According to the police, Namkywa had been missing for days, prompting a complaint from her family. After a thorough investigation, the suspects were tracked and led police to the site where her decayed body was recovered.
The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, has ordered a swift conclusion to the investigation and assured the victim’s family that justice will be served.
