The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered counterfeit medicines worth ₦300 million in a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.

In a statement shared on X.com on Thursday, NAFDAC revealed the operation led to the seizure of fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500 mg, Ampicloxa 500 mg capsules, and packaging materials for Augmentin 625 mg capsules.

“These counterfeit medicines, estimated at over ₦300m, pose severe health risks, including treatment failure, organ damage, and potential carcinogenic effects due to unknown compositions,” the statement noted.

The facility where the counterfeit goods were found has been placed under hold.

A suspect connected to the operation has been invited for questioning as part of ongoing investigations.

This raid follows a similar operation last week, where NAFDAC seized counterfeit alcohol packaging materials in Abule-Osun, Lagos, with an estimated value of ₦2 billion.
