The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning regarding the activities of Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.
In a statement released on Sunday, NAFDAC’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, revealed that the ministry has been using the agency’s name to deceive the public into purchasing unregistered products.
“NAFDAC wishes to alert the public on the activities of a faith-based organization – Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries – that uses NAFDAC’s name to deceive the unsuspecting public,” Adeyeye stated.
NAFDAC highlighted that none of the products advertised and sold by the ministry, such as “Miracle Water” and “Miracle Soap,” are registered with the agency. These products are promoted as having healing properties and are sold to unsuspecting members of the public. The ministry has been making unsubstantiated claims that these items are NAFDAC-registered, further misleading the public.
“Recently, NAFDAC has been inundated with petitions from concerned citizens about Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin of Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries… on a Miracle Water and Miracle Soap being advertised with healing and miracle claims and sold to unsuspecting members of the public by the Spiritual Ministry,” Adeyeye explained.
The products in question include Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, and Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida, among others. Despite claims of healing properties, these items have not been subjected to the rigorous scientific processes required for NAFDAC approval.
Following these allegations, NAFDAC launched an investigation into the ministry’s activities. NAFDAC officials, including the Delta State Coordinator, visited the ministry and were able to covertly purchase a bottle of Miracle Water for ₦3,000.
However, when confronted, ministry officials denied producing the products, despite the presence of receipts and product labels bearing the ministry’s name.
On further investigation, NAFDAC discovered that Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries had entered into a production contract with Globod Table Water in Delta State without notifying the agency, which constitutes a violation of NAFDAC regulations. The water company has since been sealed by NAFDAC.
“At this point, it is very clear that Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries is not ready to present itself for investigation of production and advertisement of suspected falsified, unwholesome, and unregistered miracle products,” NAFDAC stated.
NAFDAC has warned the public to stop patronizing these products and emphasized that none of the ministry’s offerings have been approved by the agency. Adeyeye reassured the public of NAFDAC’s commitment to safeguarding the health of Nigerians, saying, “We will continue with our investigation into the activities of this faith organization… I want to use this opportunity to warn faith organizations against illegal production of regulated products without requisite regulatory requirements.”
The agency reiterated that it is driven by scientific facts and verifiable data before registering any product and cautioned against the use of unverified health products.
