My Govt Winning War on Terror, Banditry —Tinubu

In his October 1st Independence Day broadcast, President Bola Tinubu declared that his administration is making significant progress in the fight against terrorism and banditry, particularly in the northern regions of Nigeria.

“On the security front, I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry. Our target is to eliminate all the threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and the scourge of all forms of violent extremism,” he said.

He announced that more than 300 commanders from Boko Haram and bandit groups had been eliminated within the past year, a result he attributed to the efforts of the nation’s military forces.

“We have restored peace to hundreds of communities in the North, and thousands of our people have been able to return home,” Tinubu stated.

He expressed confidence that once peace is fully restored, many farmers would be able to return to their lands, which would lead to increased food production and potentially lower food prices.

Acknowledging that the task is not yet complete, Tinubu assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to eradicating all forms of violent extremism. “It is an unfinished business, which our security agencies are committed to ending as quickly as possible.”

In addition to addressing security, the president highlighted the government’s response to recent natural disasters, such as flooding, by establishing a Disaster Relief Fund.

Tinubu also mentioned that integrity tests are being conducted on all dams across the country to prevent future disasters, with the federal government ready to support affected citizens.

Tinubu concluded with a message of reassurance: “We shall not falter on this,” pledging that his administration would continue working to bring stability and peace to the nation.
