The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has lauded the commencement of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) production at the Dangote Refinery, describing it as a monumental step towards Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.
In a congratulatory message to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, NUPENG’s General Secretary, Afolabi Olawale, expressed the union’s excitement about the potential opportunities the refinery will bring, particularly in terms of job creation, socio-economic prosperity, and the overall development of Nigeria.
In the letter, NUPENG celebrated the achievement as a historic milestone not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
“The leadership and entire members of the NUPENG celebrate and felicitate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the entire management team and staff of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company on the historic and landmark commencement of the production of gasoline, otherwise known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS),” the letter stated.
The union praised Alhaji Dangote for his visionary leadership and courage in undertaking such a monumental project, describing the Dangote Refinery as a testament to his “unwavering commitment, innovation, and excellence in the energy sector.”
NUPENG acknowledged the significant efforts that have gone into bringing this vision to life, noting that the successful production of PMS at the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery is a critical milestone for Nigeria’s energy landscape.
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote, your visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence have been instrumental in achieving this feat. Your contributions to the industrialization and economic development of Africa are truly commendable, and we are proud to witness the positive impact of your endeavors on our nation,” the union noted.
The letter further emphasized NUPENG’s commitment to supporting the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company, vowing to defend and protect the project from potential threats posed by “enemies of the masses and economic saboteurs.”
NUPENG reiterated its readiness to collaborate with the refinery to ensure the sustained growth and stability of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Olawale concluded by reaffirming NUPENG’s unwavering solidarity with Dangote Refinery and expressing optimism for continued success in future endeavors: “Once again, congratulations on this historic achievement. We wish you continued success and prosperity in all your future endeavors.”
