Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has left Nigeria, claiming to have narrowly escaped an assassination attempt.
Fabiyi’s absence at the coroner’s inquest into late singer Mohbad’s death and his failure to lead a planned protest at the Lagos State Assembly on the 30th of September, 2024, have raised questions. The actor had initially organized the protest to coincide with the reopening of the inquiry into Mohbad’s passing.
Addressing his absence, Fabiyi revealed that he had received threats to his life and had recently evaded an attempt on his life just two days ago.
In a now widely debated video on his Instagram page, the actor, currently in hiding, accused unnamed individuals of plotting to eliminate him due to his involvement in Mohbad’s case.
“I escaped assassination two days ago and they still planned to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow.
“They will now waste me all because I’m fighting for Justice. I didn’t collect money from anybody. I am just doing my own for God. I have to run for my life. I just left Nigeria unplanned and as it is now I don’t even know my destination,” he shared.
