The Nigerian military has issued a stern warning to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, declaring that his time is up and that he should prepare to meet his end.
Speaking at a bi-weekly press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, emphasized the military’s ongoing pursuit of high-value terrorist leaders across the country’s various theatres of operation.
“The troops are still hunting down high-value terrorist leaders. Some of them were eliminated in the first quarter of 2025. As for Bello Turji, we will soon fix an appointment for him with his maker,” Kangye declared.
Addressing concerns that the military had scaled back its operations against banditry and cattle rustling, Kangye dismissed the idea, stating that operations remain active and intense.
He also responded to recent viral reports alleging poor treatment and rationing of food for troops on the frontlines.
According to Kangye, these claims are unfounded and part of a calculated effort to demoralize the troops.

“The Armed Forces are taking good care of our sick and wounded. Those requiring treatment abroad are sent, fully funded, to countries like Egypt, Turkey, and India,” he said.
He also noted that, in 2024, the Nigerian Army allocated free housing to wounded-in-action soldiers in an estate developed in Idu, Abuja.
In a separate update, the military revealed that troops under Operation Delta Safe dismantled 122 illegal refining sites in the first quarter of 2025 and foiled oil theft operations worth over N7 billion.
The operations also led to the recovery of millions of litres of stolen crude and illegally refined petroleum products, alongside the destruction of makeshift equipment used for illegal refining.
“These efforts show our commitment not just to security but also to economic stability,” Kangye concluded.
