Ogun State Government on Wednesday said it will be providing insurance health scheme for over 70,000 beneficiaries, including pregnant women especially those under the Ibidero Scheme to reduce maternal mortality rates among the women in the state
Ibidero is a beacon of hope health scheme by the state government to ensure comprehensive care of pregnant women in the state from antenatal to postnatal services.
The pregnant women under the scheme would also be provided free pre-natal care, an additional N5,000 per birth and free post-natal care in public Hospitals and Primary Health Care Centers across the State.
Governor Dapo Abiodun who disclosed this at a Press Briefing held at the Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital said that children, elderly, market women and other members of the informal sector would also benefited from the insurance scheme
“We will be providing insurance health to over over 70,000 beneficiaries to include pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women and other members of the informal sector. More specifically, for pregnant women, under our Ibidero Scheme, we would be providing free pre-natal care, an additional N5,000 per birth and free post-natal care in our State Hospitals and Primary Health Care Centers across the State. he said
Abiodun equally spoke on providing exercise books and N10,000 grants for 100,000 pupils and students in the state owned public primary and secondary schools as well as over 27,600 indigents students all over the country with N50,000 education grant each
“The state has taken the following steps:Education Sector:Providing a minimum of 5 exercise books for all 850,000 students in our public primary and secondary schools. Providing a one-time N10,000 education support grant for at least 100,000 pupils in our public primary and secondary schools in the state. Providing all 27,600 indigent students in tertiary institutions nationwide with an education grant of N50,000 each. Health Sector” he noted
On food palliatives, the governor divulged that food items including rice would be given to 300,000 households across the state, while noting that the state government was committed to offsetting backlog N500, 000,000 inherited deductions and continue the 10,000 transport allowance to cushion the effect of economic hardship on the workers.
This, he said had brought the state’s total immediate interventions by the government to about N5Bn across all the economy sectors of the state, insisting that the government primary responsibility is to ensure the welfare of its citizen and workers as well as the safety of their lives and properties.
He said “Food Palliatives: Provision of food palliatives to include rice and other food items for about 300,000 households across the State. Civil Servants:The State Government will commence to offset the backlog of inherited deductions. To this end, we are immediately committing N500M monthly payment towards outstanding deductions. It is noteworthy that we have continues to pay N10,000 transport allowance to all civil servants for the last 8 moths.”
