As Arsenal prepare for tonight’s game against Bolton at the Emirates Stadium, captain Martin Odegaard has shared an update on his recovery from injury in his regular pre-match captain’s notes.

Despite being sidelined, Odegaard remains upbeat, providing insight into his mindset and recovery process as he continues to support the team from the sidelines.

Odegaard sustained an ankle injury after a bad twist that caused ligament damage. Reflecting on the incident, the Norwegian midfielder admitted that the initial pain had him fearing the worst, but he’s relieved it wasn’t more serious.

“It was not a nice twist, and when it happened I felt it could be serious,” Odegaard said. “I’ve injured my ankle before and the pain felt a bit different this time. That’s what scared me, but from what happened it could have been worse, so in that sense I got away with it a bit.”

Now fully focused on his rehabilitation, Odegaard is at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, daily working hard to recover and return to action as soon as possible.

“I’m moving forward, making progress and I’m feeling more positive every day,” he explained. “I’m working hard and my only thought is to get back as soon as possible.”

While he’s eager to return to the pitch, Odegaard remains cautious about overexerting himself too early. He’s using the time away from the field to stay involved with the squad, offering support in any way he can.

“I’m trying to support the team in a different way now, if I can’t be on the pitch. That’s my situation, and I have to make the best out of it.”

Despite his absence, Odegaard will be cheering on the team as they face Bolton, a game he sees as an opportunity for players who need minutes, as well as younger talent, to step up.

“It’s another competition to play, another trophy to aim for, and we want to win it. We go into every game wanting to win, and it’s a good chance for the squad to show that we are strong enough and ready to fight in every competition.”

Odegaard’s leadership from the sidelines will be invaluable as Arsenal look to secure a win and continue their push for success in all competitions this season.
