Man Plans Ghana-to-US Swim to Shatter Guinness World Record

A Ghanaian man, Dauda Seidu Bayigo, has declared his plan to break the world record for the longest individual swimming marathon.

In a TikTok post, Bayigo revealed that his record-breaking swim from Ghana to the United States will begin on the 6th of June.

The distance between Ghana and the USA, according to a distance calculator, measures 6,220.89 miles (10,011.55 kilometers).

If successful, Bayigo will outdo the current record held by Nejib, who swam non-stop for 76 hours and 30 minutes from the 15th to 18th of September, 2018.

Nejib covered 120 kilometers (75 miles) across the Gulf of Gabes in the Mediterranean Sea, swimming between Sfax on the mainland of Tunisia and the island of Djerba.
