Organisers of MTV Africa Music Awards on Thursday announced the postponement of the 2021 awards ceremony.
The programme was earlier slated to hold on February 20, in Kampala, Uganda.
According to the organisers, the postponement was due to the ‘current health and safety challenges”.
MTV Base Africa said on its official Twitter account on Thursday, “MTV Base is postponing the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards. We will keep fans updated as we have more news.
“After careful consideration, MTV Base is concerned that the current health and safety challenges will significantly jeopardize the ability of the campaign to continue to achieve its objectives.
The event would have marked the first-ever live-streamed virtual MTV Africa Awards due to COVID-19 pandemic challenges.
