Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has presented an appropriation bill of N266, 644, 273, 205 tagged, ‘Budget of Continued Consolidation” for 2021 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
Makinde while presenting the budget on Monday said it was N12 billion above last year’s budget.
The budget has a recurrent expenditure of N136,262,990 billion while N130,381billion was set aside as capital expenditure.
A close look at the figures of the budget showed education receiving N56 billion, which represented 21% of the fiscal while infrastructure has the sum of N46 billion at 17.2% of the total budget.
On health, a total of N13.2 billion, representing 4.9% of the budget was set aside for the establishment of primary health centres across 351 wards in the state.
While thanking members of the House of Assembly for their unwavering support to the executive towards repositioning the state, Makinde added that the administration aimed at achieving 70% implementation of the 2021 fiscal target.
The governor said, “The 2021 is N12 billion above the 2020 budget and this is to further drive a consolidation effort that we have started this year on the previous budgets.
“We were able to achieve 50.2% of the 2020 budget implementation and you will agree with me that it was due to causes beyond our control like the Covid-19 pandemic and other crisis that bedeviled the nation and the world at large.
“So it is pertinent that we appreciate the members of the state House of Assembly for their staunch support for all welfarist programmes of the present administration, they are wonderful.”
