A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday, granted bail to Senator Ali Ndume, who was remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, for standing surety for a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrashed Maina, who jumped bail.
The presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang, in his ruling on Friday, granted the application for bail pending appeal, filed by Maina.
Abang said he was exercising the court’s discretionary power in favour of Ndume on account of his good conduct during the trial of Maina, who is being prosecuted for alleged laundering of N2bn.
Ndume represents Borno South Senatorial District in the Senate.
