Madrid Enforces ‘Law of Silence’ on Ballon d’Or Awards, Opts Out of Celebrations Despite Key Wins

In a surprising move, Real Madrid has implemented a strict “law of silence” concerning the Ballon d’Or, choosing not to acknowledge the awards even as they claimed several key accolades.

According to Diario AS, the club has decided against making any official statements or posts about the prestigious awards, which included recognition for manager Carlo Ancelotti as Manager of the Year and Real Madrid itself as the Best Team.

This policy became apparent after Real Madrid opted to skip the award ceremony held in France on Monday night, a decision reportedly influenced by early news that Manchester City’s Rodri would receive the Ballon d’Or over Madrid’s own star, Vinicius Junior, who had been speculated as a potential winner across media outlets. Despite this speculation, the club remained unwavering in its decision not to attend or publicly celebrate any of the honors.

“Now nobody talks about the Ballon d’Or or the gala. Nothing has been posted about the awards the club has won,” Diario AS reportedly stated.

While players remain free to discuss the awards on their personal accounts, Real Madrid’s official platforms will remain silent.

This move marks a distinct change in how Real Madrid approaches individual awards and public recognition, emphasizing the club’s collective over individual accolades, even in the face of significant achievements.
