Local Vigilantes Foil Bandit Escape Attempt in Kebbi

In a significant breakthrough against insecurity, two suspected bandits were apprehended by the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) at the Janruwa Grazing Reserve, Kanya District, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident unfolded last Wednesday when vigilant locals acted swiftly to arrest the suspects.

The Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, disclosed that one of the suspects attempted to escape during the arrest but was quickly rearrested by the vigilant group, preventing the suspect from evading justice.

Bena, who was alerted by the District Head of Kanya, commended the swift response of the vigilantes. Upon receiving the report, he instructed that the suspects be handed over to law enforcement officials, ensuring that due process was followed.

His directive highlighted the importance of maintaining a lawful approach to community security.

The Chairman also thanked the state government for its support to the vigilantes and other volunteers, which has been vital in strengthening local security efforts.

He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to continued collaboration with the joint security team to ensure peace in the region.

This latest arrest underscores the critical role that local vigilante groups play in tackling banditry in the region, particularly in areas where formal security is limited.
