Liz Truss has emerged as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to take over from Boris Johnson who resigned in July this year.
Truss was announced as the UK’s next prime minister on Monday following her victory during an internal leadership contest of the ruling Conservative party.
She defeated her rival, former finance minister Rishi Sunak by 81,326 votes to 60,399.
The emergence of the the UK foreign secretary as Prime Minister followed the summer-long internal contest sparked by Johnson’s resignation.
