Lawan Visits Buhari as Political Realignments Begin Ahead of 2027

Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has begun political consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, with a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

Lawan, who represents Yobe North under the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with Buhari on Wednesday.

The visit, confirmed in a statement by Lawan’s Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, highlighted discussions on national and political issues.

The statement noted, “Senator Lawan arrived at the former President’s residence at 12:40 PM and was warmly received. During the visit, he conveyed the best wishes of his constituents and family to former President Buhari and his family.”

Lawan also expressed gratitude to Buhari for his leadership during his presidency and for his ongoing guidance.

“He thanked the former Nigerian leader for his leadership during his tenure between May 2015 and May 2023 and for his continued commitment to the development of Nigeria,” Tabiowo added.

In response, Buhari appreciated Lawan’s visit and his steadfast support, commending his role in the country’s political landscape.
