Peter Nwachukwu, the late popular gospel singer Osinachi’s husband, was arraigned today in a Federal Capital Territory High Court on a 23-count charge that bordered on culpable homicide.
The defendant, whose wife allegedly died as a result of his prolonged assault, pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations contained in the charge brought against him by the Federal Government.
Following Nwachukwu’s declaration of innocence, Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme ordered his remand in the Kuje Correctional Centre in a brief judgment, adjourning the matter till June 16 and 17.
The court also approved an expedited hearing in the matter.
“The Defendant should be detained in Kuje Correctional Facility pending the outcome of this suit’s hearing,” said the judge.
Remember that Osinachi died on April 8 after being on life support. Her death prompted confessions from family, friends, and church members regarding her husband’s alleged domestic violence.
Her spouse was arrested after a worldwide outcry for justice for the late songbird.
