40 unlawfully parked trailers, trucks, and tankers were seized, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), on Monday between the Costain and Iganmu areas of the state.
The enforcement actions were taken out promptly following the expiration of a “7-day Removal Order” issued to the owners of the trucks, according to Bolaji Oreagba, General Manager of LASTMA.
Oreagba added that the level of voluntary cooperation was encouraging because the bulk of people had already withdrawn their heavy-duty cars before the enforcement activities began.
A statement by LASTMA spokesman, Adebayo Taofiq, quoted Oreagba saying, “We are very happy with the level of voluntary compliance by owner/drivers of these illegally parked trucks including other illegal workshops such as Iron benders, mechanics, food/ Fruits vendors.”
He claimed that the 40 trailers that had been seized had been illegally parked near Ijora, Costain, Breweries, and Ajegunle Park in Iganmu, Lagos.
