. Speaker directs clerk to transmit copy to Sanwo-Olu for assent
Lagos State House of Assembly has passed the Value Added Tax Bill.
The House also passed the bill that prohibits open cattle grazing in the state.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, however, directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko, to immediately transmit a clean copy of the VAT tax bill to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his assent.
The lawmakers passed the two bills after unanimous votes during the plenary following the third reading of the bills.
Speaker Obasa, while speaking shortly after the passage of the two bills, commended his colleagues for their continued interest in the growth and development of the state.
“I thank you all for this historic exercise,” Obasa said.
On Wednesday, the Assembly conducted separate public hearings on the two bills, as stakeholders gave their backing to the bills.
