Jimoh Jogbo, 38, allegedly attacked his mother-in-law and killed her in an unidentified church in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos.
The culprit also ended the life of another worshiper, 40-year-old Jamiu Sakire, who sought to sound the alarm.
According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the suspect had sex with the younger sister of his wife, who is 14 years old.
According to reports, despite the suspect’s entreaties, his mother-in-law insisted that the case be reported to the police so that justice would be served.
It was claimed that the attack on her was a clear attempt to prevent her from following through on her threat.
The incident was reported to police officers at the Akodo division by the suspect’s wife, Modupe Bolaji.
She claimed that at around 1 am, her husband rushed to the church from their flat on Olodana Street in Orofun Town, Ibeju Lekki, as they were getting ready for a prayer section.
She revealed the identity of her mother as Fatimo Muskilu,49.
She said, “he hit her with a hard object. He also attacked Jamiu who saw him and attempted to shout. Jamiu died on the spot”.
Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said it occurred on November 14, 2022.
According to him: ” The 49 years old woman was rushed to Akodo General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
“The scene of the incident was visited by policemen from the Akodo division. There were marks of violence on the corpses which were deposited at the Epe General Hospital.
“The suspect has been arrested and will be transferred to the SCIID for further investigation.”
