The leadership crisis at the Lagos State House of Assembly remains unresolved weeks after the ousting of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025.

Some lawmakers have now travelled to Abuja to meet with President Bola Tinubu in a bid to address the turmoil.

Meanwhile, on Monday, February 3, members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and the Lagos State House of Assembly held a closed-door meeting at Lagos House, Marina.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, and GAC leader Tajudeen Olusi were among those present. Though the meeting’s agenda was not made public, discussions were expected to include the fallout from Obasa’s removal.

Obasa’s ousting by 32 lawmakers has triggered political tensions across the state.

The Department of State Services (DSS) intervened on January 30, following a petition allegedly filed by Obasa, in which he claimed his removal was politically driven and involved allegations of misconduct, abuse of office, and financial mismanagement.

Several lawmakers were invited for questioning, spending about six hours with DSS operatives before being released late Thursday.

The crisis remains unresolved as political negotiations continue behind closed doors.
