A Kwara State Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 23-year-old student of the State’s Polytechnic, Babatunde Lekan, for knocking down a police inspector, Isaac Osayintuyi, with his car.
Police prosecutors told the court that Lekan hit the policeman with his Toyota Camry on the Ilorin/Omu-Aran highway.
The accused, according to the police, ran away after the incident to remove his number plate and tinted leather on the windshield.
The prosecutor, Innocent Owoola, told the court, “The inspector was rushed to a private hospital in Omu-Aran but was later certified dead.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the defendant.”
Magistrate Usman Zainab then ordered Lakan’s remand.
She adjourned the matter to July 18.
