British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, says the killers of Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State, on Thursday, must be punished.
Laing also condemned the heinous act.
Deborah was on Thursday lynched and her body set ablaze by her fellow students for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.
A video of the killing of the student by her irate colleagues later went viral on social media.
But the British High Commissioner in a tweet on Friday, said the Nigerian authorities must ensure that the perpetrators of the act are appropriately punished.
“I condemn the murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, and urge the police and relevant authorities to ensure the perpetrators of this horrific act are made to face justice in line with the law,” she tweeted.
But the police in Sokoto Command said two suspects have been arrested over their alleged involvement in the killing of the Deborah.
