Kidnappers Strike Again in Abuja, Family of Four Abducted

In the early hours of Friday, a group of heavily armed kidnappers abducted four members of a family in the Tundun Fulani extension area of the Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The incident occurred around 1:30 am, leaving the community in shock.

A resident of the area, who requested anonymity, recounted the terrifying ordeal. “There was a kidnap incident in Tundun Fulani extension in Bwari around 1:30 am. The kidnappers were many and fully armed. The kidnappers broke into a house and kidnapped four members of the same family. They also shot one person who escaped being kidnapped,” the resident stated.

The individual who managed to escape the abduction was shot by the kidnappers, adding to the growing fear and insecurity in the area.

When contacted, the FCT police command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, assured the public that the police were actively addressing the situation.

“We responded swiftly. We are on top of the situation,” Adeh said.

The Bwari area of the FCT has seen a troubling rise in kidnapping incidents in recent months. On May 8, suspected gunmen invaded Piko, a remote community in Bwari Area Council, and kidnapped thirteen people. In July, a resident of El-Rufai Estate in the same area, identified as Nathaniel, was shot during an attempted abduction that was thwarted by the quick response of the FCT police command and collaborating troops.

As the community reels from this latest attack, residents are calling for increased security measures to protect them from the escalating threat of kidnappings in the region.
