The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday, mocked some politicians who he said were politicizing the ban earlier placed on Twitter by the Federal Government for over six months.
The minister, who returned to the social media platform almost immediately after the ban was lifted by the Federal Government, said Nigeria is a better nation after Twitter met the conditions stipulated by the Federal government.
While lambasting those he said had prioritized politics over patriotisms, the Minister in his first tweet wrote:
“For those who prioritized politics over patriotism and exhibited disingenuous righteousness on Twitter suspension, they can now see that with all the FG conditions to which Twitter agreed, Nigeria is eventually better off for it.“Congratulations Nigeria.”
Recall that the federal government had banned Twitter operations in Nigeria for over six months.
The ban was later lifted after Twitter reportedly met the conditions given to it by the federal government.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have said that the decision to lift the ban on Twitter was motivated by no other than the coming 2023 general elections.
