The combined effects of the flood and windstorm in Katsina State have resulted in no less than 24 fatalities and 16,625 homes being damaged.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by its public relations officer, Umar Muhammad, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said that 1,620 farmlands in the state’s Danja, Ingawa, and Kafur local government regions were drowned.
According to him, the calamity caused farm products, estimated to cost millions of naira, to be destroyed.
Muhammad stated that in order to help the victims, the organization had evaluated the impacted homes and farmlands.
He continued by saying that the state administration would soon begin distributing aid to the victims.
