Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, will announce a new minimum wage structure for state workers next week after reviewing the report from the Minimum Wage Committee.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants.
He said, “We are focused on ensuring that our policies are both economically viable and sustainable.”
The committee, led by the Governor’s Special Adviser on State Affairs, Usman Bala, was tasked with reviewing and recommending updates to the state’s minimum wage structure.
Yusuf said the committee was chosen “because we believe in their ability to provide valuable insights and innovative ideas for moving forward.”
The governor called for patience from civil servants while the government carefully reviews the committee’s recommendations to ensure they comply with constitutional guidelines.
He added that the final decision would be made public next week.
Bala, the committee chairman, noted that the recommendations were shaped by Kano’s current economic realities.
“We are confident that the proposed wage structure will be both durable and sustainable for the state, positively impacting the financial stability of civil servants,” he said.
