Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured the safe return of minors from his state facing serious charges, including arson and treason, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The group, totalling 76 suspects, was arrested during August’s #EndBadGovernance protests for alleged acts of vandalism, attacking police, and chanting anti-government slogans.
Many of the suspects are minors. However, during their arraignment in Abuja, some of these minors reportedly collapsed while waiting in the courtroom, causing a commotion.
Responding to the situation, Yusuf took to his X page to address the distressing development, announcing immediate intervention from the Kano State government.
“My attention has been drawn to the appearance of teenagers (some believed to be from Kano) in court today in Abuja,” he posted.
Governor Yusuf further shared that he has directed Kano’s attorney-general and commissioner of justice to act without delay.
“The Commissioner of Justice has been instructed to act immediately on the issue. We shall do everything possible to get them back to Kano, in sha Allah,” he assured.
