A fresh terrorsts attack in Kaduna State on Monday has led to the killing of no fewer than 10 soldiers.
Bandits, who had since been classified as terrorists in the country, reportedly stormed a military base in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of the state, killed 10 soldiers and injured several others.
It was learnt that the attack occured at about 6:30pm on Monday.
A security source, the soldiers were attacked by the terrorists at an Army Forward Operational Base located around the Polwire area close to Mikati Farm along the Kaduna- Birnin Gwari Road.
Meanwhile, the military authorities have yet to confirm the attack.
The security source explained that the soldiers were attacked while they were in few numbers, and taken unaware of by the bandits, who were said to have stormed the base in large numbers.
The terrorists, who came on motorcycles with sophisticated weapons, were said to have opened fire on the soldiers as soon as the stormed the base.
The source added that the bandits had monitored the movement of the soldiers, and that as soon as some of them went to the headquarters of the Forward Operational Base located inside Birnin-Gwari town, they launched an attack on the few soldiers at the FOB extension.
Aside from killing about 10 soldiers, and injuring some others, the bandits also destroyed a patrol vehicle during the attack.
There have been incessant attacks and killings by bandits in Kaduna recently.
A day earlier, bandits had abducted 11 persons in Angwar Maji community at Jere town in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.
These are happening after the recent Abuja-Kaduna train attack that led to the death of about 9 passengers, with some injured and many others abducted.
