…says ‘we recovered charms, guns, seven AK-47 rifles, thousands of ammunition in his house’
. ‘His men engaged our operatives in gun battle, we killed two, they injured one operative’
. ‘Igboho should surrender himself now to security agencies’
Department of State Services, on Thursday, said a team of joint security operatives raided the Ibadan, Oyo State, home of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.
DSS also said it recovered illegal arms, cash and charms from Igboho’s Ibadan home during the raid.
DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, disclosed this on Thursday evening while displaying the seized items during a press conference on the incident.
Afunanya said the security agency recovered the illegal arms, including seven AK-47 rifles and “thousands of ammunition” during a raid on Igboho’s residence.
He said the raid was based on intelligence that Igboho was stockpiling arms to cause unrest.
The DSS spokesman said when the security operatives approached Igboho’s house, they were attacked by six of his boys, who engaged them in a gun battle.
Afunaya said while two of Igboho’s men were killed, a DSS operative sustained injuries during the incident.
He said Igboho escaped during the gun battle, adding that the Yoruba Nation agitator is on the run but the law would catch up with him.
The DSS spokesman urged Igboho to turn himself in now to security agencies.
