A former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Bayelsa State, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, has felicitated with a veteran protocol chief, Joseph Akedesuo, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a very distinguished public servant.
Iworiso-Markson, in a statement, said the passion, dedication and professionalism Akedesuo had for his job was remarkable, which resulted in his rising to the pinnacle of his career in the Bayelsa State Civil Service and serving both military and civilian administrations unblemished.
He stated that when their paths crossed in the administration of former governor now Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, he didn’t need anyone to tell him that he had found a friend and brother, as Akedesuo took him as one and till date they maintain the same bond of friendship and brotherhood.
The former Commissioner added that in the course of his meritorious career, the ex- Director of Protocol mentored many people and today his mentees are doing well, replicating his feats in the protocol unit of the state government.
Iworiso-Markson added that without any shadow of doubt, Akedesuo remains one of the shining examples of a public servant and one of Bayelsa’s very best.
He further stated that now that Akedesuo has assumed the status of a statesman, it is imperative for him to continue to play a major role in the peace, development and stability of Bayelsa State.
While congratulating him on the milestone, the ex-commissioner asserted that living up to the age of 60 is not easy and prayed God to keep him in good health, sound mind and vitality.
Iworiso-Markson said, “Joseph Akedesuo who some of us call “Alabo”, is a pride to Bayelsa State. His record of service in the state Civil Service speaks highly of him. For 35 years, he blazed the trail, serving various governors since the creation of the state.
“I’m delighted and proud to know him, not just as a friend but someone who became my older brother. We worked closely in the administration of former governor Seriake Dickson and he was always there for me.
“I feel fulfilled to have met someone like him and on this his special year, attaining the age of 60, all I can say is for God, who is the Almighty, to continue to guide and protect him and make him a happy man at all times.
“For me, I want to urge him as a statesman now, to play a more active role in the peace, development and stability of our dear state.”
