Nigeria’s first minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, has implored the Federal Government to allow the Igbo to have their own country.
The elder statesman said the Igbo have been treated as a non-important fragment of the country.
He added that despite his love for Nigeria to remain one, the current situation under President Muhammadu Buhari has not in any way encouraged that, adding that with the poor state of the nation nothing is working.
Amaechi spoke during a zoom meeting organised by Dele Momodu of the Ovation Magazine and Mazi Ezeoke.
He also lamented that the country had drifted away from the blueprint of the founding father, saying there was an urgent need for a new constitution that would involve every stratum of the country in important decision-making.
According to him, “I am sad. This is no longer the country we founded. This country has to start all over again.
“You can’t beat someone and ask him not to cry. If you don’t like us, let us go. I don’t want to go, I believe in one Nigeria.”
