Department of State Services says Maxwell Okpara, who it described as the lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra, is also the lawyer to the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
DSS stated this through a tweet on its official handle @officialDSSNG.
The tweet stated that Okpara mobilised like minded lawyers against the Director General of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi.
The tweet reads, “Charge and bail, overzealous uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer Maxwell Okpara mobilises other like minded lawyers against DGSS. Futile Efforts. Well, Nigerians, beware! This is in bad faith. Transferred aggression.
“A Biafran Republic agitator and Outlawed IPOB counsel defending the suspended CBN Governor. Is IPOB defending one of theirs???? What a contradiction…..hmmm…what’s the connection? Is someone telling us something? May Maxwell be properly educated on points of law, please.”
DSS, in March this year, announced its social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram in a statement by its spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya.
In the statement titled: “DSS SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES DEBUT” the Service identified its handles as: Twitter: @OfficialDSSNG; Facebook: OfficialDSSNG; and Instagram: @OfficialDSSNG.
Afunanya explained that the purpose was to enhance public and stakeholder engagements.
The DSS statement had read, “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby informs the public that it has created Social Media handles which are as follows:
Twitter : @OfficialDSSNG
Facebook : OfficialDSSNG
Instagram : @OfficialDSSNG
“Similarly, the PRO’s Twitter handle is @DrAfunanya_PNA . Hitherto, the Service did not own or operate these handles. Its decision to operate them with effect from 6th March, 2023 is to enhance public and stakeholder engagements. The public should be guided and NOTE that any such handles before now were/are FAKE, please.
