A human rights activist, Comrade Samson Oluranti Talabi, says it’s impossible for the Federal Government to win the perennial battle against Boko Haram insurgents without the intervention and assistance of the international community.
Talabi stressed that it’s imperative for the international community to offer Nigeria all the help needed to win the raging battle against the Boko Haram insurgents, who have in the past 10 years killed thousands of innocent Nigerians.
He also expressed shock and sadness over incessant killings a across the country, particularly last week’s gruesome murder of Dr Chike Akinyuili in Anambra State.
The activist stated that the wanton killing of innocent souls by the Boko Haram terrorists had just confirmed that the country alone could not defeat the insurgents without the support of the international community.
Talabi in a statement made available to newsmen said, “If the leaders of the world could go into Iraq, Libya and so many other locations with combined special forces under an international mandate from the United Nations, indeed Nigeria should not be exempted.”
Talabi alleged that he had cause to believe that the protracted insurgency war was some kind of covert external conspiracy against Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
He insisted, “It is hard to accept that Nigerians are the ones killing themselves on this scale. No , this is not who we are, there is no reasonable justification for this.
“What ever be the case, a globalised world cannot look on while this barbarism is taking place in the full view of the entire world.
“As for those in charge of the country today, I have no words for you all, except to say when reform is overdue there is no bigger assignment than to make those reforms happen. We cannot continue like this .”
