Suspected terrorists have attacked troops of the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade’s 7 Battalion at the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, injuring three soldiers in the ambush.
It was learnt that the elite troops were ambushed during a patrol in the area.
Three soldiers belonging to the Guards Brigade were said to have been injured during the attack. The injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment at a military hospital in Abuja
It was learnt from military sources that the attack occured on Sunday while the troops were on patrol.
The troops were said to have engaged the terrorists and successfully repelled the attack.
According to a reliable military source, “The troops of the elite Guards Brigade were ambushed along Bwari-Kubwa road. But the ambush was forcefully repelled by the Brigade of Guards troops.
“The troops were on routine patrol of the area when they were attacked.However, three soldiers were wounded in the attack and they are already being treated at a military hospital within Abuja.
“The attack happening within the area of Bwari showed that the terrorists are actually within the location and possibly to carry out their plans of attacking the law school in Bwari among other targets in the area.”
Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Guards Brigade Abuja, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, confirmed the attack.
He added that troops were still combing the area with a view to apprehending the criminals.
