The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented certificates of return to Ondo State Governor-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his deputy, Adelami Olayide, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The certificates were handed over by Prof. Kunle Ajayi, the Supervisory National Commissioner for Ondo State.

This follows INEC’s declaration of Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, where he triumphed with 366,781 votes, defeating Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 117,845 votes.

Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), won across all 18 local government areas of the state.

However, Agboola Ajayi has rejected the election results, alleging widespread electoral malpractice.

He stated, “Democracy cannot thrive in an environment where unabated criminality is perpetrated in the prosecution of an election by INEC.”

Ajayi declared his intention to challenge the results in court, expressing hope for justice both from human and divine sources.

“We reject the results of the November 16th election and will take legal actions to reverse the debauchery,” he stated.

“It is time we begin to eschew criminality from our electoral process.”
