I’ll Rather Quit Politics Than Leave PDP — Fayose

Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he would rather retire from politics than defect to another political party.

Fayose, a strong member of the PDP, on a private visit to the president on Monday, expressed belief in the efforts of the current administration to turnaround the economy of the country.

In an interview with state house correspondents at the Lagos residence of the president, Fayose stated that his confidence in the leadership qualities of President Tinubu goes beyond political reasons.

He said, “My visit is personal to further encourage him to continue to do what he is doing for Nigerians.

“No one is saying is easy, but there’s no miracle that can turn around things overnight.”

According to him, the president deserves accolades for stabilising the economy despite the tough decisions taken by the current administration.

“But for the little the president has done, we must commend him,” Fayose said.

Fayose said despite criticising the past administration, his praise of Tinubu’s government is because of the president’s efforts.

“I was a one-time critic of the last administration, but you cannot compare the situation now.

“So, for me, I’m here, one, to take the opportunity of his homecoming, to visit him. And to encourage him to do more for Nigerians.”
