IK Ogbonna Slams CAN for Alleged Fake Miracles

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has publicly criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the rising reports of “fake miracles” occurring in certain churches.

In an Instagram post shared on the 18th of September, 2024, Ogbonna expressed his concern, stating that exploiting God’s name for deception is a betrayal of the Christian faith.

He also urged believers to be wary of online trends that mock their religion and called on the federal government, alongside CAN, to step in and ensure that those responsible for such acts are held accountable.

“It is heartbreaking to see pastors faking miracles to deceive and exploit the vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit.

“To those pastors, it is time to reflect. Using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. The victims should remember that their faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception.

“Let us also be cautious not to get carried away by social media trends that ridicule and disrespect our faith.

Christianity should never be used as a tool for views, likes or viral content.

“I call on government and religious bodies like the CAN to step up, regulate, and hold bad actors accountable. Christianity is not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith!”
The actor’s post followed a viral video featuring unusual testimonies from members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

In the video, an elderly woman recounted how she was confronted by four armed robbers, but miraculously gained control of their weapons after declaring, “I’m a chosen.” Another man shared an extraordinary story of a lion lifting him into the air and saving him from kidnappers.

Additionally, a man claimed to have survived kidnappers, machete strikes, and gunshots, emerging completely unscathed.
