Iheanacho Completes Middlesbrough Medical Ahead of Loan Move

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed his medical with Championship side Middlesbrough ahead of a loan move until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Nigerian international has agreed to join Michael Carrick’s side, with the club having the option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

According to Sky Sports, Middlesbrough will cover almost the entire €2m owed to Iheanacho by Sevilla for the remainder of the campaign.

Iheanacho endured a difficult spell in Spain after joining Sevilla from Leicester City last summer.

He failed to score in nine La Liga appearances, with his only goals coming in the Copa del Rey, where he netted three times.

The arrival of fellow Nigerian forward Akor Adams from Montpellier further limited his chances at Sevilla.

Since the January transfer window opened, Iheanacho has not featured due to transfer speculation and a minor injury, with Sevilla making it clear he is not part of their long-term plans.

The former Manchester City striker rejected offers from Greek sides PAOK and Panathinaikos, as well as Italian club Venezia, in favor of returning to England.

A potential move to Scottish champions Celtic, which would have reunited him with former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, also collapsed.

Iheanacho will now hope to revive his form at Riverside Stadium, with seventh-placed Middlesbrough pushing for Premier League promotion.

The club currently sits just outside the playoff spots, having collected 44 points from 29 matches.
