IGP Egbetokun Hosts Former Police Chiefs, Discusses Key Policing Reforms

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on October 16, 2024, convened a historic meeting with former Inspectors-General of Police (IGPs) at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall, Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The gathering, attended by former IGPs, including IGP Aliyu Attah, IGP Sunday Ehindero, IGP Mike Okiro, IGP Mohammed Abubakar, and IGP Alkali Baba Usman, aimed to foster dialogue on strengthening the foundation of effective policing in Nigeria.

The meeting provided a platform for exchanging ideas, with the former IGPs sharing valuable experiences from their tenures.

IGP Egbetokun emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating, “The contributions of these past IGPs have laid the foundation for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), each playing a pivotal role in reforming the Force to align with global standards.”

The past IGPs offered insights to the Force management team, including AIGs, CPs, and other senior officers, addressing the evolution of policing and future reforms.

IGP Egbetokun praised their efforts, noting, “Their wealth of experience is invaluable as we continue to shape the NPF to meet current security challenges.”

The session marked a significant step in ongoing efforts to enhance the NPF’s efficiency and effectiveness in ensuring safety and security across Nigeria.
