Ignore IPOB’s Sit-at-Home Order —Enugu CP Tells Residents

Kehinde Fajobi

Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to disregard a viral video promoting a sit-at-home order for Monday, 21 October, and Tuesday, 22 October 2024.

The video, shared by an unidentified man, falsely claimed that the launch of Biafran armoured vehicles would occur, calling for a sit-at-home in all southeast states.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, the CP condemned the video as a “baseless and unwarranted attempt to incite fear and unrest.”

Uzuegbu reassured citizens that Enugu State had moved past such illegal orders, which are often tied to secessionist agitations aimed at destabilising the state’s social and economic well-being.

“The public should go about their lawful activities without fear or intimidation,” Uzuegbu said, emphasising that security agencies were fully prepared to maintain peace.

He warned that any attempts to disrupt public order would be dealt with decisively.

The Commissioner also advised parents to caution their children against participating in activities that threaten the state’s peace, stressing the severe legal consequences of such actions.

He encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.

For emergencies, the public can contact the Enugu State Police Command at 08032003702, 08098880172, 08086671202, or email infoenugupolice@gmail.com.
