… says ‘Aketi is very much alive’
Ondo State Government, on Saturday, dismissed rumours about the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The state government has, therefore, urged the public to disregard the rumours circulating about Akeredolu’s death.
State Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, in a statement, clarified that the Governor Akeredolu is alive and has been attending to state matters while also delegating state functions.
Rumours about the death of the Ondo Governor had taken over the social media space in the last 48 hours, creating apprehension in the state and across the country.
The Commissioner said that the clarification became imperative following the tension the rumours had caused in the state and across the country.
He further noted that the state government had been receiving numerous calls and messages regarding the governor’s health, and had initially chosen to ignore the false information until it became apparent that certain individuals were attempting to use it for political gains.
The statement read, “We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain people sought to draw political mileage from the disinformation.
“Though the Governor has been indisposed, he has been attending to state matters and delegating functions to functionaries of the government when necessary.
“We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumour. Aketi is very much alive.”
