Igbo community in Bauchi elects new leadership


. To promote unity, peaceful co-existence

The Igbo Community Bauchi State (ICB) has elected new executive officers to pilot its affairs for the next three years.

Chief Ignatius Ifemene emerged as the President- General of all Igbo- speaking towns and communities residing in the state.

The new President – General emerged unopposed at the election conducted at Larema Hotel and suites, Bauchi on Sunday.

Other executive members who emerged unopposed include Dr Okolo Christopher Chuks- Vice President – General;Igwe Calistus – Asst. Secretary General;Onwuha Okechukwu – Internal Auditor;
Monday Amaliku Mike – Asst. Internal Auditor; Emmanuel Nnadozie – Chief PRO1 and
Ndubueze Agu – Asst. PRO.

Those who also won by consensus are Sunday Nneli – Asst. Financial Secretary; Anselem Osi – Provost II;
Anthony Ifeacho – Welfare Officer and Ejim Ikenna David – Asst. Welfare Officer while Nobel Elekwanchi, Samuel Okah and Solomon Ushi were elected General Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Provost, respectively.

In his acceptance speech, the new President- General, Chief Ignatius Ifemene urged members of the Igbo community to continue to promote unity, peaceful co-existence, harmonious relationship and love among themselves as well as with the host community.

According to him, “The election is over; it is time for us all to work for the development and upliftment of our community in Bauchi. Let all of us join hands and rally round my administration to forge a united front to take ICB to greater heights.”
